Employment, Immigration and Data Protection Law

Doyle Clayton specialises in all workplace legal matters. The firm was established in 1997 and was amongst the first of the UK’s specialist employment law practices. Doyle Clayton has evolved into the UK’s largest integrated workplace practice and continues to evolve to best serve our clients.

We are known for providing commercially-focused, exceptional quality advice and service at highly competitive rates. Our aim is to work closely with our clients as trusted advisers to support them in all aspects of dealing with their employees, from recruitment through to departure. We strive to provide proactive, practical and cost-effective advice so that we become an integral part of our client’s own team.

Team

Our team of more than 50 specialist lawyers is drawn from the UK’s leading practices and in-house. Our expertise covers all aspects of law and practice in the workplace including:
• Employment law (including Employment Tribunal and High Court litigation)
• Discrimination and Harassment.
• Business immigration.
• Personal immigration.
• Data protection/privacy.
• Regulatory/compliance.
• Pensions.
• Employee equity and incentives.
• Education Legal advice for parents.

We work alongside our clients to resolve day-to-day queries, advise on strategic projects and the steps to take in order to protect their business. Where matters become contentious we litigate robustly, but sensibly, with our focus on achieving a client’s commercial goals in a cost-effective way.

Notable work

The firm acts at a level at which law is made. For example, in recent years we have been engaged in significant Court of Appeal cases involving whistleblowing and a bonus dispute. We regularly appear in High Court team move and restrictions cases. We have acted in the most notable and widely-reported Employment Tribunal cases relating to philosophical belief discrimination.

International/inward investment

We have many clients headquartered overseas with operations in the UK. We also advise companies intending to invest and open businesses in the UK.

Whilst UK-based, our reach is global as a founder of the ELLINT network of leading employment law firms across Europe, China and LATAM. We also have long-established contacts with US firms with East and West Coast offices, and firms around the world through our practices.

Clients

We count amongst our clients publicly-listed companies and SMEs, both international and domestic. We have advised national embassies and international companies. Since our inception we have developed a reputation as a ‘go to’ firm on employment law issues.

We have worked with our clients through the life cycle of their businesses. The result is that we have advised on a comprehensive range of HR issues including board-level reorganisations, director-level appointments and terminations, investigations into misconduct, and restructuring exercises and benefits changes. In addition, we have advised on business transfers, defending Employment Tribunal claims, litigating and mediating High Court non-compete and confidential information disputes, and providing bespoke training 1-2-1 training.

Unlike many other law firms we also regularly advise senior individuals leaving organisations which provides a unique view of the broad people and related problems that HR teams regularly encounter, including the issues that individuals face in deciding whether to raise a grievance or to commence litigation against their employer. We have found that this makes a real difference in providing commercially pragmatic advice about where an employee relations issue may end up and enables our clients to make better decisions.
